Summer’s here and there’s nothing I enjoy more than
a refreshingwhite wine spritzer.
I’m a lightweight when it comes to alcohol,
so a spritzer is the ideal option and my go-to cocktail.
There are as many versions of a spritzer as your imagination allows. Here’s my recipe for a Classic White Wine Spritzer.
Classic White Wine Spritzer, serves 1
4 oz white wine, chilled
4oz fizzy water
Garnish
Mix together chilled wine and fizzy water. Pour over ice, or not, and add your favorite garnish.
When it comes to fizzy water, I prefer sparkling water, but soda water or a flavored sparking water are also great options.
Regarding garnish, let the characteristics of your wine choice dictate the appropriate garnish. I prefer a Sauvignon Blanc. New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs pair particularly well with a citrus garnish. But, don’t get caught up in all the wine snobbery gobbleygook … garnish with impunity. Citrus wheels, strawberries … Martha Stewart suggests melon balls and she’d never steer us wrong.
Refreshing and light … a wine spritzer is the perfect year-round cocktail!
Cheers!
