Cool and refreshing, a classic white wine spritzer is simple and sophisticated. Here’s how to make it.
Summer’s here and there’s nothing I enjoy more than a refreshing white wine spritzer.
Let’s make one …
I’m a lightweight when it comes to alcohol, so a spritzer is the ideal option and my go-to cocktail.

There are as many versions of a spritzer as your imagination allows.
Here’s my recipe for a Classic White Wine Spritzer.
Classic White Wine Spritzer, serves 1
4 oz white wine, chilled
4oz fizzy water
Lime wheel
Pour chilled wine and fizzy water into a glass.
Add ice if you like.
Garnish with a slice of lime.
When it comes to fizzy water, I prefer sparkling water, but soda water or a flavored sparking water are also great options.
Refreshing and light … a Classic White Wine Spritzer is a perfect year-round cocktail.
Regarding garnishes, let the characteristics of your wine choice dictate the appropriate garnish. I love a dry, citrusy Sauvignon Blanc which pairs well with lemon or lime garnish. Don’t get caught up in all the wine snobbery gobbleygook … garnish with impunity. Citrus wheels, strawberries, Martha Stewart suggests melon balls and she’d never steer us wrong.
