Simple Summer Porch Ideas

Snowberry’s front porch is ready for summer!

Can you spot Pippa?!

I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for summer.

Not the hot weather, so much.

But long, leisurely days.

Clear, starry nights.

And a lot of porch sitting

Layerd front door mats

Less is more is my motto in all things home decor.

So I did just a few simple things to refresh the front porch.

First I gave it a good cleaning.

Added a new wreath.

And doormat.

I’m a fan of the layered doormat look.

My base rug is reversible, so I flipped it over.

And placed the new mat on top.

And then I went to the nursery.

For annuals to complement the wreath and mat.

I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

You spotted Pippa … can you find Maggie?!

So there you have it.

That’s where I’ll be.

With a cup of cocoa or ice tea in hand.

And a good book or magazine.

  • It’s so pretty and colorful without being too busy, and I love the way that pretty doormat and wreath work together. And thanks for the pillow shoutout!
Your blog post made me realize I need to cheer up my porch. My spring flowers are still in the pots and while they are still blooming they do look a little tired. I need a refresh.

  • Juliet, Love this! You have the prettiest entry and home! I wish I could have pretty flowers like you on my porch. Even with an overhang, things quickly look like scorched earth. Maybe because we face west? Right now, asparagus ferns and an occasionally succulent will survive.. Sniff. Love the doormats and plants. I am off to look at the baskets!! I need a trip to Eye for Pretty. Can we meet up there?
I am getting out there and taking care of the cobwebs today.. It is amazing how fast they come back. I literally just cleaned the whole porch before Memorial Day and now it looks like the entrance of the Munster’s home! Must be the warm weather? Enjoy the day and this mild weather with your cute pups. xo

    • Hi Kim, I seriously doubt your home has any Munster-ish qualities, but I know what you mean. Keeping spider webs and debris at bay is an ongoing struggle. We’re lucky to have a shady porch, not he other hand it limits what thrives on the porch. I guess the ideal situation would be middle ground between your porch and mine. Yes, you must plan a trip this way to see visit Eye for Pretty at Home, Flaunt and so many other great shops. And, of course, to have lunch with me! xo

    • Thanks, Cindy … when you’re visiting the area let me know and I’ll give you the full (not-very-extensive … haha) tour! xo

  • So pretty and fresh, Juliet! Love the doormat! And i didn’t know Karen makes pillows! How special!

    • Hi Molly! That Karen is amazing with needlework and I feel so lucky having this wonderful pillow welcoming visitors to our home! xo

  • Hi Juliet,
Your porch is so inviting. As is your whole garden and house! You’ve got the touch. Those shops near you have some cute things, there are slim pickings down here!
Btw you look adorable and perfect for a relaxing afternoon on the porch!
    Xo Heidi

    • Hey there, Heidi … we are lucky to have some great shops nearby. Or maybe unlucky because I find myself falling into them a little too often. If you know what I mean. 😉 xo

  • Juliet, your porch looks lovely and inviting. I love the colorful wildflower wreath and the door mat. So many great ideas that I need to add to my own front porch.
Have w wonderful week! xo Elizabeth

    • Thanks, Elizabeth … I wish our porch was more expansive. Looks like you have a lovely front patio and gorgeous view. Porch sitting, large or small, is a true pleasure of life! xo

  • OH, I have a few things I CAN ADD!!!!!
How pretty everything looks………….Those pups have NO IDEA how LUCKY they ARE to have YOUR HOME to DASH around in and OUTSIDE!
DO you really sit there and read?
    XXX

    • YES, I DO! Actually sitting on this bench is perfect situation for flipping through magazines on my knee. I love to flip through magazines! My dog’s position is … I’m the lucky one! xo

  • Such a welcoming front porch. Inspires me to refresh my pots as well. Have been to the plant nursary a couple of times but haven’t taken the plunge just yet. I recently went to the library and got a few books to read for fun. It had been at least 8 years since I’ve gone. I’ve missed it! You will find me out under the gazebo, reading, watching the breeze sway the trees, and quietly watching the birds and squirrels visit the fountain. My favorite place to be!

    • Oh, the library … I haven’t been in ages but I love to be there walking through the stacks and stacks of amazing books. Reading under the gazebo sounds delightful. Happy weekend, friend! xo
