Today on weekend meanderings, get your fall wardrobe squared away with Frank & Eileen x Flaunt’s fall styling event happening today! Plus a few things I bought and loved this week.
Happy Saturday, friends!
It’s time for the weekend post with Kim and Elizabeth, our weekly roundup of inspirations and goings on.
Just as I was starting to feel fall, summer arrived. Yep, we’re in the midst of a heatwave. No complaints, we’ve had a lovely and mild summer so far and I’m well aware that many of you haven’t been as fortunate. Because Murphy’s Law – my first fall sweater arrived just as the temperatures soared.

Frank & Eileen x Flaunt Fall Styling Event
It’s that time again, for Frank & Eileen x Flaunt’s fall styling event! I arrived at favorite boutique Flaunt bright and early yesterday morning for a sneak peek at Frank & Eileen’s new fall pieces. Powers-that-be from the brand, Effie and Joya, were in the shop to show off the new fall pieces and help style them. Effie can zhush a sleeve like nobody’s business and I begged her to do all of mine because I can’t replicate what she does.
The embroidery station is back! You may remember I attended last year’s event, bought my one of my all-time favorite F&E pieces, the Rory shirt dress, and had the hem embroidered with my name.
The event continues today from 10-4 so if you’re local drop everything and go!
And just like that my fall wardrobe is squared away ~
I’m loving the big, bold colors … reds, deep navy and greens. And plaids. I made a bee-line for the red triple fleece pullover. I’m not normally a fan of red, more accurately it’s not a fan of me, but this color – called garnet – is a bit more subtle and it works. It’s showing up very red red in my photos, but it’s not. I’d say the true color is somewhere between red and burgundy.
I thought I was so smart showing up in my favorite Frank & Eileen jogger jeans and white henley. On one hand it was smart because every new piece I tried on made a complete outfit. On the not-so-smart side everything made a complete outfit so it needed to come home with me. Obviously.
Garnet popover, you complete me!
I love the Gabi pullover shirt in this new F&E’s famous denim … I had a martini glass embroidered at the hem.
Joya encouraged me to try on the Waverly button-up shirt inspired by Juliane Moore. One can never have too many white button downs, right? I also fell hard for the Dublin sweatshirt blazer. It looks black, but it’s British Royal Navy. It’s polished, but comfy, cozy and it’s a great travel piece. Someone said, wear it on the plane then fold it up and use it as pillow. Brilliant! As for the shirt, size up a time or two and wear as an outer layer.
My photo makes it look like there are fuzzies all over the blazer … there aren’t. But it did send me running to check. I must have had fuzz on my lens.
Moving into lighter colors and neutrals, the Cotswolds cropped cable knit sweater was a splurge but who could resist?! If our temperatures don’t drop soon I’m going to scream.
I’ve admired the Belfast peacoat for a long time. And this new color – think it’s called toasted – is gorgeous. How did it not come home with me? I’m pretty sure Kim has it another color.
Any finally, a new pant style. the Limerick in chalk, olive, and navy. Their made of the softest peached twill, patch pockets, a wide leg, and cute contrasting button on the olive and navy pairs. Love!
If you’re local, I encourage you to visit Flaunt to see all the fall pieces for yourself. It’s fun to try them on for size + take advantage of expert styling guidance. And, today, Effie, head of global sales, will be back in the shop.
When it comes to Frank & Eileen, I’m pretty consistent in sizing for tops and jackets (x-small), although for outer layers (like the a peacoat or blazer) I might size up to a small to allow for layering. On my lower half I’m not as consistent and I like to try on.
For those not lucky enough to live in proximity to Flaunt, have a look see at Frank & Eileen online. I did link some of my favorite pieces for you, but many of the styles I tried on today are new – fall styles and colors – and won’t be available on the brand site until next month. Also, some seasonal colors are reserved for retail boutiques and may never make it online … so check your local shops too.
If I had to survive on just one clothing brand for the rest of my life, Frank & Eileen would be it. They get me … the clothes are casual, stylish, and comfortable. It’s such a win to look great and be comfortable. And most everything fits without much fuss (i.e., alterations). Their pieces seem to drape in a way that disguises the extra 10 lbs I can’t seem to shake. On the downside, they don’t make a single item I don’t love … and want. They’ve got my number.

Italian Cashmere from the California Candle Co. ~
I was excited to see Jen, of The California Rancher fame, at Flaunt yesterday. She created a candle, poured exclusively for the event, called Italian Cashmere. Sounds luxe and it is. I bought four! One for me and the others to tuck away for the holidays. You can buy Italian Cashmere at Flaunt, and for Jen’s other scents, like her recent Orchard Collection, visit her California Candle Co. Mini Boat & Tote
Last week I received my new LL Bean mini boat and tote. My old one (more than 10 years) finally wore out. Rather than a monogram, I opted for a favorite acronym of my dad’s. Does anyone know what it stands for? My nieces and Jim’s son sure do … and it would make a fun holiday gift for them.
AIS = A__ In Seat … e.g. Question: What time are we leaving in the morning? Dad’s Answer: 0600 AIS.
Translation – your backside better be in the seat (seatbelt buckled) at 6:00am. This does not mean not moseying toward the car … it means being in the car and we’re pulling out of the driveway.
We adopted this with the nieces and Kyle and they learned to ask … what’s AIS time? And they knew we meant business.
Anyhoo, the classic B&T comes in several sizes, and options for trim and monogram color. Tie a scarf to the handle to zhush it up.
If you’re a little extra order a custom liner … with inside zip pocket and draw string closure.
Pre-Fall Outfit?
All this talk about fall, I skipped over pre-fall! What is pre-fall anyway? Never mind, it’s just one more thing to roll our eyes at while turning up (or turning down?) the air conditioning.
But, if you can’t beat them, join them and this is my interpretation of a pre-fall outfit. Maybe it’s coastal pre-fall?
