Peer pressure ... do we ever move past it entirely? Not me apparently, which leads us to today's post. 🍂 Last year's fall porch, because this year's fall porch is a couple weeks off. It was 100 degrees yesterday. And the day before that, and the day before that. Plus it's still summer. So why am I posting this? Oh yeah, peer pressure.

Today on the blog ... Snowberry's home gym. Garage home gym. Plus my top 9 home gym essentials. As pumpkin spice season approaches I'm going to appreciate (ahem need) the workout space more than ever.

Happy Tuesday ... it was a whirlwind holiday weeke

Happy Tuesday ... it was a whirlwind holiday weekend at Snowberry! We attend three live performances ... that's right, three. For the first time in well over 18 months.

We kicked off the weekend with Shakespeare ...The Winter's Tale at the Bruns Amphitheater. It was a cold night and we were in down jackets and gloves. Saturday night was a different story and we danced under the stars on a very warm evening at Bottlerock Napa Valley. Guns N' Roses was the headliner. On Sunday we ventured to Marin County for The Allman Betts Band at a waterfront venue ... so much fun. Yesterday, after walking the dogs, we did absolutely nothing.

If the weekend outings weren't enough, I made Prosecco Rose Spritz' and we adopted a stray cat. Her name's Abby and she's adorable. Don't ask what Pippa and Maggie think.

Oh, and how can I forget that Saturday kicked off the college football season. My team performed abysmally ... probably why it slipped my mind. Jim's mighty Trojans got off to a great start.

Labor Day always feels like the end of summer, although it's not. That said, fall is definitely in the air here. Mornings are a little crisper, the sun sets a little earlier but the days are very warm ... it's too soon for pumpkins.

Indecision is a terrible thing. Take this room ...

Indecision is a terrible thing. Take this room ... an extra bedroom at Snowberry. My original plan was two twin beds with a shared nightstand under the window. Then came the pandemic and Jim started working from home. In this room. 18 months later he's still working from home. In this room.

Finding a place for me to work has been frustrating. And it's constantly shifting. The kitchen table, the library, back to the kitchen table, back the library ... back and forth. It's not working. I need space ... for things like vertical files, in and out trays, pencil holders, paperclips ... you know, office stuff. I'm not one of those people that can function anywhere with a laptop. Nope. I need infrastructure.

I can’t function in these conditions. And I've come up with a solution. It only took 18 months. Today is the day things are going to change so stay tuned.

Adding carriage doors in the back of Snowberry’s

Adding carriage doors in the back of Snowberry’s garage was the smartest decision we made during our renovation.

How did we come up with this idea? We didn’t. Our l landscape designer @enchantingplanting suggested it the first time he saw the house. This was before the renovation when we had no garage.

He was thinking ahead. And when the landscape project finally begin, a Bobcat cruised right into the garage and through the carriage doors making the job a little bit easier.

Another great idea came from our electrician who installed an outlet in the garage ceiling for a disco ball.

One of these nights we’re going throw open the carriage doors, hang that disco ball and dance the night away.

Good morning ... a little glimpse into my secret g

Good morning ... a little glimpse into my secret garden. AKA peace in the midst of chaos.

Did you see any of my stories over the weekend? Our outdoor kitchen sink collapsed (while filled with ice and wine ... about 5 minutes before our friends arrived). Jim walked outside and said 'where'd the wine go?' ... I know it doesn't sound funny, but (in hindsight) it was hilarious. What can you do but try to find humor in life mishaps.

And, speaking of mishaps, Jim discovered (he has an eagle eye) that the new door to our main bathroom, and the surrounding trim, were painted the wrong color. Oof.

Nothing I dislike more on a Monday morning then sending bad news texts ... but here we are.

It's Friday ... cocktail night at Snowberry! With all the chaos going on here it's too noisy to record a video. But, not to worry, I have plenty of ideas posted in Reels and IGTV for just this type emergency. I'll share a few options in stories ...

-Does it feel like a tequila night? Mix up some Ranch Water!
-In the mood for gin? How about a classic G&T or a Grapefruit Martini!
-Is it hot where you are? A fruit infused Rose Spritz could be just the ticket.

Today on the blog - finally - Snowberry's finished great room. All the furniture, fabrics, accessories ... edge of your seat stuff.

A few weeks ago I wrote about the renovation process and promised a follow up of the completed room. I don't know why it takes me so long to write a blog post. I'm a card carrying member of over-thinkers anonymous and that's probably the best explanation.
