Valentine’s Day Porch Ideas

February 1, 2021 By Juliet 28 Comments

Teak Bench and Heart Pillow

Do you love Valentine’s Day?

I love Valentine’s Day.

It’s a fun, frivolous day to celebrate love … and chocolate, and flowers, and dinner dates, and soul baring love notes, and …

Front porches!

This post includes affiliate links for your convenience at no additional cost to you. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Teak Bench with throw and heart pillow

Are you ready for my Valentine’s Day porch decor?

Don’t blink or you’ll miss it.

That’s it.

A cute, hearted pillow and an ivory throw.

Et Voila!

Heart Pillow

Let’s talk about that pillow.

Subtle, blush colored hearts on an ivory background with pompom corner tassels.

That’s amore.

But wait, there’s more …

Valentine Heart Wreath & Potted Plants

This woven heart wreath.

Isn’t it sweet?

Woven Heart Wreath

The wreath is super lightweight and Jim was able to hang it with a 3M Command Strip … no holes were drilled in the siding.

We’re squeamish about that. I’m not sure why.

Black and white rug and layered doormat

Visiting the nursery this time of year is pretty grim.

It’s slim pickings.

I found this tall, boxwood-ish topiary. I’m not sure what it is … I accidentally tossed the tag.

Whatever it is, it works!

Woven basket topiary and potted plants

Under-plantings of white, trailing flowers fill in the basket.

And pink and white annuals add a Valentine vibe.

Front porch with layered doormat

And, then there’s my trusty lantern-for-all-seasons with a flameless candle next to the front door.

Oops, with all the cute Valentine themed door mats out there … I neglected to buy one.

My wine and dog treats mat will have to do.

I did pick up a black and white plaid rug from the Studio McGee collection at Target.

I love the tassel edge detail.

It’s a little larger than my other plaid under-mat and I like the bigger size.

What does this have to do with Valentine’s Day?

Absolutely nothing.

But the heart pillow and wreath … plus pink and white flowers have me covered.

Layered door mat black and white

So, here you have it. Snowberry’s Valentine’s themed front porch.

A little something something to set a tone of Valentine festivity for anyone approaching …

which these days is pretty much limited to our UPS and Door Dash drivers.

Front Porch Bench and Heart Pillow

What am I wearing you ask? Well … I’ll tell you.

Jeans from Target … yes, Target.

I’m trying to lose my Quarantine-10 and refuse to spend much on any item of clothing until its gone.

But, these jeans! Just enough stretch, not too high waisted and so comfy. And the price is right.

My JCrew mock turtleneck is no longer available but I found similar sweaters here and here.

I bought these faux snake skin booties last fall. I love them and they go with everything.

This is my winter uniform … when I’m forced to leave the house.

PIN THIS POST TO SAVE FOR LATER

Valentine's Day Porch Pin Collage

Later this week I’m sharing my Valentine / Galentine tea party table!

No, I won’t really be be hosting a tea party this year.

But practice makes perfect. By next Valentine’s Day I’ll be the tea party hostess with the mostest.

Stay tuned.

Need a next level Valentine’s gift idea?

Pastreez Macaroons

My sister sent us a box for Christmas.

Neither of us is a fan of macaroons. Or so we thought.

Holy moly … these macaroons are amazing. We ate the entire box in a matter of days.

Pastreez Macaroons

Pastreez Macarons

Even Jim, who doesn’t have a sweet tooth, elbowed me out of the way as we made a mad dash for the macaroons after dinner.

Our favorites are the chocolate, salted caramel and red velvet.

And they’re making heart shaped macaroons for Valentine’s Day.

Heart bowl and red and white jelly beans

As always, I appreciate your visit and would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

I’ll be back later in the week with my Valentine’s Tea Party.

Until then, cheers from Snowberry!

Of course you love macaroons! I didn’t know they were GF. I did see something mentioned on the Pastreez website about that. Anyway, these are so good I’m going to order a box for Jim for V-Day. I’ll need to stay away from them though. And, maybe he’ll attach diamonds to the dog collars?! Please ask the Italian to call him stat. Seriously, what a GREAT story … when we meet for tea in my garden you must ELABORATE. Now, I must get back to that tea party post. Oh, and watch for your invitation to my2022 Galentine Tea Party Extravaganza at Snowberry. Surely by 2022 we’ll be doing normal things again, right? xo

    Hi Juliet,
Your porch looks perfect! I like the subtle hint at Valentine’s Day. My daughter is getting after me to decorate and I guess I’ll do that later today. I just have a few little things that I put out. I might add a heart to the basket of greens and berries that is still on my door from Christmas. Whatever works, right?
The cake looks so good. Please I am not proud, I am begging for an invite to your 2022 tea party!! Ha Ha.
I have the same booties and I love them! After awhile they squeeze my pinky toe a little, but they look good, so totally worth any discomfort!

You do not need to ask … of course you are on the V-Day Tea Party-Palooza list! Yes, whatever works for your Valentine decor is just right. A pillow, a basket … so easy. And, before we know it it will be March. Interesting about the booties. I bought them in the fall and haven’t gone anywhere so haven’t had them on for any length of time. My feet have acclimated to slipper and may rebel ever wearing real shoes again. Haha! xo

Juliet I love your pillow and cute wreath. It’s just perfect for your home- welcoming and fun. The jeans look fantastic on you. I have to check them out. I just want comfortable jeans now. I even bought a size larger just for sitting around. Excited to see your tea party. Did you have it for your niece? Sounds lovely. I wish we could have Galentines gatherings.. Maybe next year! By the way the boots are super cute and the right height. I saw a woman hobbling in heels today and thought WHY? Tennis shoes look so cute now and there are so many options. Even at the inauguration- all the women struggling with the darn stilettos. I feel like this pandemic has made me never want to wear heels again. And women look silly. Anyway, loved this post!! You are getting me in the mood for Valentines. I am off to decorate the porch now!

Oh, Kim … I’m so over heels too. And the last wears, my feet hurt before I was out the front door. I’m both thrilled and horrified by Sex and the City’s return … I don’t suppose they’ll be wearing sensible shoes? Great idea to buy a size up in jeans as ‘house jeans’ … I just tried that a well. I think we need to buy up the pairs we like (and are comfortable) because the new styles are so stiff and uncomfortable. Good grief, I sound like an old lady. My tea party post is up … and no, it wasn’t for my niece. It was more of an imaginary party. Jim and I … and our dogs … enjoyed it though. Hope you’re up to something fun this weekend … I’m loving these clear, sunny days! xo

Did you have a wonderful Easter?! Yesterday, aft Did you have a wonderful Easter?!

Yesterday, after a way-too-much-food brunch I worked off some calories doing a little planting. I refreshed our window boxes and planted annuals in the wine barrels at the top of our upper hill ... where we just repaired the retaining walls.

The saddest day of spring is when the tulips start dropping petals. Why why why can't they last forever?

Last year we planned to host an Easter Brunch at Snowberry. We'd just moved in and looked forward to welcoming family to the house for the first time. Well, we all know how that turned out. But, I have high hopes for Easter 2022.

Meanwhile, back in 2021, I'm not cooking, or hosting Easter ... but I'm sharing some of my favorite Easter recipes on the blog. What are your favorite, must-have Easter dishes?

It's a beautiful Monday here in the Bay Area! We'r It's a beautiful Monday here in the Bay Area! We're enjoying amazing spring weather. We need more rain. Desperately. But who can be mad about warm, sunny days?

Over the weekend I took advantage of our sunny skies and planted the beginnings of Snowberry's first vegetable garden. Part of our landscape renovation included raised beds. One bed gets a good deal of morning and early afternoon sun, the other is mostly in the shade. It's going of be a process of trial and error to see what grows well.

This is what I planted yesterday ... tomatoes (Sun Gold & Sweet 100), jalapeno peppers, red bell peppers, shishito peppers, rosemary, oregono, flat leaf parsley, thyme, marjoram, sage, rosemary, mint (spearmint& grapefruit mint).

I also planted three types of lettuce and it's giving me anxiety. I'm worried about garden creatures gobbling it up. The raised beds are in a fenced part of the yard, so deer can't get in. But squirrels, birds and creepy crawlies loom. We'll see how it works out.

Still on my list of things to plant ... Padron peppers, basil, chives and yellow tear drop tomatoes. I also plan to plant a variety of flowers.

I'm so excited to have a garden again. Tell me ... are you planting herbs and veggies? What are you planting?

No Easter plans, no problem ... I decorate anyway. No Easter plans, no problem ... I decorate anyway.

Until we moved into Snowberry I wasn't much of a seasonal decorator. Don't worry ... I'm still clinging to my less-is-more ideal ... but a bunny here, a raffia egg there, and a pot of tulips. Why not?

You can see it all ... over on the blog. Let me know what you think!

Good morning! It's the first Monday of Spring and Good morning! It's the first Monday of Spring and it feels like it. Sun out, daffodils blooming, birds chirping and my sad tulip pot looks like it's turning around. Hope is in the air!

Snowberry's retaining wall project is coming along and might be finished in a day or two. It's one of those things that needed to be done when we bought the house ... and we ignored it. I think we were waiting to decide what to do with the side lot. And the decision is not to decide ... this year.

I'm off to drop my car at the dealer to see why it's (10 day old brakes) are squealing. Ugh, so annoying. Hope your day is off to a more exciting start!

I'm sharing my recent attempt to contain (ahem ... organize) everything in Snowberry's master closet. We have a nice size, walk-in closet ... but it's smaller than our last closet and presented a challenge. With a good edit and some amazing organization tools ... I did it! Exciting things are happening over here at Snowber Exciting things are happening over here at Snowberry. Our library room ... that I made such a fuss about during our renovation ... is nearly complete! Yesterday our two final furniture pieces arrived. After a seven month wait.

It's been a slow drip. We finished the renovation a year ago. It wasn't until September that the room's area rug and sofas arrived. Oh, and there was the vintage rug debacle over the summer. I won't go into it here. It's worthy of its own blog post. We've picked up art here and there. And just before Christmas came a coffee table, table lamp, and sofa pillows. Then we waited, and waited, for the curved console cabinet (shown in my stories) and side table to arrive.

Now that the gang's all here, I'm ready to pull the room together. Stay tuned.
