Better Late Than Never Holiday Gift Ideas … 2022 Edition

Today I’m sharing my better late than never holiday gift ideas. A rambling and random list of gift suggestions pulled from the pages of Weekend Meanderings.

It’s December 13th and, depending on when your family exchanges gifts, there are 11 or 12 more shopping days until Christmas.

We’re a Christmas Eve family and the sense of urgency is real.

For inspiration I combed through a year’s worth of Weekend Meanderings.

And chose favorite things I featured that were popular with readers.

Without further ado … here are my 2022 holiday gift ideas.

Holiday gift wrap.

Leaving nothing to chance, I gifted myself …

This Epson Photo Scanner.  Finally I’m going to get my old and treasured photos safely preserved in electronic form. The scanner arrived last week. It’s compact and is sitting right on my desk. It’s going to be a big job, but how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Speaking of eating, I’m also gifting myself this 6 qt air fryer. It comes in six colors, I chose sage green. I’m late to the air fryer party … and this is the cutest one I’ve seen. And, yes, cute is a consideration when something is going to take up precious countertop space.

Morning Cocoa, Tea and Coffee …

For the third year in a row, a good milk frother tops my list of holiday gift ideas. I’m still limping along on the old version of this one. The best part of my day is the first sip of my morning cocoa. And the only way to get it right at home is with a proper milk frother.

For blue and white lovers who are passionate about their morning cuppa  … you can’t go wrong with this oversize Spode cup and saucer. When I pour my morning cocoa on Instagram, it’s the most commented on and inquired about. You can find variety of patterns at Replacements.

If you have a tea lover on your gift list, this blue Brown Betty teapot is just the thing. My sister gave it to me last year. Never heard of a Brown Betty? Neither had I, and I wrote about it here.

Tried and true cozy favorites …

Not much imagination here, but these are gifts that everyone needs and loves receiving. These Minnetonka mule slippers have made my gift guide the last two years. They’re everything you want in a slipper … comfortable, great quality and half the price or you-know-what’s. I wear them so often I have to buy a new pair every other year. This year I also bought Ugg’s Tasman slippers. Closed heal slippers can be too loose or too tight. This pair fits just right. I have the Minnetonka’s in brown, so I bought the Uggs in black.

House socks are another universal essential. And a great stocking stuffer. Here are some favorites.

This is the coziest bathrobe. I bought it to look decent for my glam session before Kyle and Melody’s wedding, it immediately replaced my old hotel-style bathrobe.

This cozy cashmere wrap and open front cardigan are welcome gifts too.

A few clothing and accessory pieces for stylish friends …

This flannel shirt jacket comes in many colors and patterns.

This lightweight rain jacket windbreaker has the cutest striped lining.

This button front cardigan. It’s thick, not heavy, soft, not scratchy. It’s so warm and cozy I’m wearing it constantly. I have it in gray and brown and it comes in several other colors. Size up.

This utility jacket with a corduroy collar.

This silk scarf.

This layered necklace.

Charcuterie lovers …

Are you sick of me and my mini-charcuterie boards? I’ve written about them many times, most recently here. Mini or otherwise, here are a few charcuterie lovers gift ideas. I think this includes everyone.

Wine & cocktail hour enthusiasts …

These glasses are so popular … and they’re my go-to’s. Not only are they pretty, but they’re affordable. I won’t have to murder you if you break one.

I’ve written about my love for cocktail napkins many times. I just found these are my new favorites.

A few all-around gifting go-to’s from candles to watering cans …

First up … candles. These holiday scented candles are my favorites.

After being gifted two Saje diffusers by a friend this year, I’ve become a big fan. We have the Aroma Om in the office and the Aroma Nook in the great room. My favorite essential oil is Saje’s Liquid Sunshine Blend … a mix of citrus, and their Happy Home Collection.

Yes, I’m obsessed with mini-watering cans, and your friends are too.

This blue and white Christmas tree plate is a great hostess gift … even better filled with holiday treats.

Round brush-style blow dryers are game changers and this one is my favorite.

Bags …

I’ve shared quite a few bags over the course of the year, these two are by far the favorites.

Hoka’s …

The number one reader-favorite link on my blog this year … Hoka athletic shoes. I wrote about them here. A great workout shoe whether you’re walking, running, taking a group exercise class … or just running errands. They come in a ton of fun color combinations and styles. Hoka’s will get everyone’s New Year’s resolutions off on the right foot. Ha!

Last but not least, books …

Books are my favorite gift to give and receive. These are all the gift-appropriate books I highlighted this year and I own and adore every single one of them.

Gifts from your kitchen …

A couple of weeks ago I shared this recipe for Orange Cranberry Bread … I’ve been making it for over 20 years for friends, co-workers and neighbors.

Orange Cranberry Bread wrapped as a gift.

Here’s how I’m wrapping my holiday gifts …

Plain brown wrapping paper, with a 5″ burlap wrap, tied with two velvet ribbons, a 1″ ribbon in antique gold and 5/8″ ribbon in blue, with a dried orange slice on top.

Simple and easy.

So there you have it.

My better late than never holiday gift ideas.

I hope something caught your eye and checked an item or two off your shopping list.

As always, I appreciate your visit and welcome your thoughts in the comments below.

I’ll see you again on Saturday when I join Kim and Elizabeth for Weekend Meanderings.

Until then, cheers from Snowberry!

  • Such great ideas! Wish my gifts weren’t already purchased and wrapped since Hanukkah begins this weekend. Guess I may have to find a thing or two here for myself.

    • Debra … aren’t you the organized and efficient one! You have no choice now but to buy something for yourself!!! xo

  • what a great assortment of cocktail napkins!!! Pretty wrapping…I’m doing something similar. Merry Christmas!

    • Thanks, Sue … I came up with it last minute with things I already had on hand. Feeling pretty good about myself. Wink, wink. xo

  • I am finally reading all your posts from the last two weeks. Really great! I loved the Navy piece and I also printed the cranberry bread recipe out. Since I bought all the stuff to make them, I am still trying to put all my old photos in books – I have tons of pages, stickers, scissors and paper. I’m up to 1992. The last time I worked on it was 2014….maybe I should get a scanner!?

    • Oh, Gray … been there … photos accumulate and it’s hard to keep up. It feels like an overwhelming task. Hoping the scanner makes a difference but I know it will still be time consuming as I look through the photos and reminisce. A project for 2023. Hope you make the bread … its really good. xo

  • Juliet, Fantastic list.. Something for everyone. I can so use that scanner.. I don’t even want to think about how many photos need to be digitized.. I’m like Gray in terms of photo books, decades behind.. It’s awful. Love the watering can. I may get that for my plant obsessed son. Your Spode would also be the nicest friend gift! So many good books too.
Oh I almost forgot to mention your wrap! It’s beautiful and classy- so you. Love the velvet ribbon and orange slice! That wrap itself is a sort of gift if you ask me. I know it’s nice to pass around and reuse bags, but I have to say I am thrilled to get a pretty gift and when someone takes the time right?
Well, you got this gift list in under the wire, and many people like myself, just woke up yesterday and realized they’ve bought like one gift.. So you’ll see it will be useful!
We can chat about more of your gift ideas on Thursday!! xoxo
    Kim

  • Juliet- let us know how that scanner works out. I’d love to get this done and off my list!

Got Brent and my friend Cathy my dog walker the Hokas. Great ideas.

Will order the linen cocktail napkins. What a great price.
    Happy Holidays

    • Hi Laurie – Stay tuned on photo scanner … I plan to tackle this early next year. Hokas are the best and you can’t have too many cocktail napkins, right? Have a wonderful holiday! xo

  • Juliet, I love all of your gifts! There are lots of last minute shoppers that are going to love this list!

You will love your air fryer, if this is your first. I use mine almost every day!

Slippers are another favorite, I have not tried either of these, I am off to check them out. I like to wear Stegemans wool clogs so that I can wear them inside and outside.

Books! My all time favorite gift to give and to get. I am going to add a few of these to my list and see if Santa brings them.

Love your beautiful wrapping too! Have a lovely day, hopefully I will see you live!

    xo Elizabeth
