Happy weekend, friends!
Jim and I are in Chicago.
For a wedding.
You know I love weddings.
This one is formal.
I’ll recycle my navy dress and gold jacket
from Kyle and Melody’s wedding.
And change things up a bit with my hair and jewelry.
Are you ready for Weekend Meanderings?!
Let’s get into it and then we’ll hop over and visit Kim and Elizabeth.
CASUAL SUMMER WEDDING GUEST LOOKS
Speaking of weddings, my middle niece is getting married in early June. It’s going to be a very small, family wedding. Outdoors at a cute winery. It’s a late afternoon and evening event. And it’s likely to be warm (possibly hot). I’m considering two dress options for her big day. It’s hard to decide. Which one do you like best? Let me know in the comments.
Option #1
I adore the new Mirjana Wedge by Sarah Flint. Remember you can use my code SARAHFLINT-BAJULIETR to receive $50 off your first pair of Sarah Flint shoes.
Option #2
HOW TO WASH A BASEBALL HAT
Last Friday was National Laundry Day. And the laundry guy, Patric Richardson, made a repeat appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan. Kelly is a huge fan and loves doing laundry. I wrote about Patric’s life changing book Laundry Love and my revamped laundry routine here. And did a brief update on my adventures in laundry here.
And now, a new laundry skill! Washing a baseball cap. Jim has a ton of baseball caps and is constantly acquiring more. Insert eye roll. We need a dedicated closet for his extensive collection. Or something like this. He has a few favorites that he wears on repeat. I had no idea how to clean them so bear with me if this isn’t news to you. Patric says, put them in the dishwasher. Yes, the dishwasher. Top rack. To make things easier he recommends this hat washer frame cage apparatus to keep the cap’s shape. Genius. I ordered a set of two.
When I shared this revelation with Jim, his response … ‘I knew that.’ Ok, well, I guess he didn’t feel it necessary to share this information with me. The cage thing was new to him though. I’m holding my breath until it arrives so I can wash some of his favorite, and very dirty, hats. Stay tuned.
GET ORGANIZED WITH THE HOME EDIT, SEASON TWO
Everyone’s favorite home organizers, Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin, aka The Home Edit, are back for season two of their Netflix series. I binged the first half of the season and need to finish up. Other things keep getting in the way. Ugh. I know, my priorities are way screwed up. I’ve been following this dynamic duo on Instagram for five years or so. Their Instagram travel stories are legendary.
Season two lit a fire under me to get serious about properly organizing Snowberry’s kitchen. I went to The Container Store to look at all the The Home Edit organization products. I got home and spent hours flipping between The Container Store website and both The Home Edit organization books, A Guide to Organizing and Life, mapping out a plan. It’s a lot like piecing a puzzle together. We’ll see how it works out. Look, they even have a workbook. Maybe I should get that too. I devoured the first issue of their new magazine, Feel-Good Organizing on the plane. Who says magazines are dead.
I’m stunned and so sad to learn that Clea has breast cancer. In her Instagram post she shared that she discovered a lump herself and was unable to get an appointment with her OB. If she can’t get an appointment with her doctor, who can? Long story short, her GP finally got her in for a mammogram which confirmed her worst fears. She’s chosen to make her experience public to encourage others to prioritize and advocate for their health. I know she’ll continue sharing her journey with candor and a good dose of humor. We’re pulling for you, Clea. And, please friends, be diligent about your annual mammogram.
SHIPLAP AND SHELLS SPRING GARDEN TOUR
Meet Kim of Shiplap and Shells. And tour her spring garden and greenhouse here. Wait until you see that greenhouse!
Kim lives in a charming cottage on the shores of Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest. She’s an incredible gardener and you’ll be inspired by her cottage-style garden. Her interiors reflect her garden style … cheerful, colorful and approachable and inviting. She was a novice gardener when she, her husband, and cute dogs, bought their forever home nine years ago, but she was a fast study. And now she shares her gardening tips and tricks with all of us on her blog and in her Facebook group. You can find Kim on Instagram too. She’s a wonderful source of year-round gardening and decorating inspiration. So good, she’s been featured in Cottages and Bungalows, Better Homes & Gardens and The Cottage Journal magazines. You’re in for a treat.
THE CONTESSA CAFTAN
In other exciting news, my Contessa Caftan arrived! And earlier in the week La Contessa herself featured me (it) on The Vintage Contessa blog!
The Contessa Caftan’s are made by Trish at Cottage by Design (remember her heart shaped pillows?). I’m wearing the original monogram design in porcelain. Contessa and Trish just introduced several new monogram design options, including the Lavern & Shirley. That makes me laugh. And a French crest. In addition to the caftan, there’s also a tunic. You choose from Trish’s Contessa-approved fabrics, your monogram style and color. Contessa’s post provides the full scoop on how to order!
So, there you have it.
My favorite things of the week.
Let’s go see what Kim and Elizabeth are sharing today.
Bonus … a few more weekend reading and inspiration links:
Tour this newly built Modern California Bungalow … it just came on the market in my hometown!
Love all these Spring Home Trends for 2022 from Ashley of Modern Glam Home … everything I’m wearing below came from her boutique, Flaunt.
As always, I appreciate your visit and welcome your thoughts in the comments below.
Don’t forget to let me know which summer wedding guest dress you like best?
Cheers from Snowberry!
